After traveling down the mountainside, Lyra arrived in mid-afternoon along the coastline. She spied what seemed to be a main land or another island. Lyera decided to swim across to it. She struggled to swim the last bit. She draged her tired body onto the land. Where was she? The land looked very dry. What was this place? Lyera started off on her own little exploration.

A black stag came into the meadow. His blue pools taking in the deadened grass and the trampled terra. Memories, painful memories flooded his mind. Shaking his head so that his ebony forelock was removed from his blue orbs. Scenting a fae in the area he approached her. What was she doing here. Here, where is sweet beloved Jazul disappeared. Snorting with anger the black stallion approached, the feathering on his pistons swayed in the slight breeze. Flicking his banner to remove the unwanted flies he opened his maw to speak. "Fae! Who are you?" His voice low and rumbling held confidence, confusion, and a note that told he expected she answer him. His ragged hide was either from having a harsh life or a life full of constant wandering.

Lyera was unscathed by his harsh words and presence, even slightly amused. 'I'm Lyera.' She spoke. Once again she was meeting an unknown horse. Her peircing teal orbs seared into the stags gaze. 'You are?'

Outraged by her obvious amusement of the situation he snorted. "I am Ruban, the wanderer for I have no allegiance." Blue orbs remaining cold as he studied the mare. The sun hit his ebony coat causing a contrast of white and black. His heavy winter coat was ragged and torn in several places. Raising his hoof then stamping it down into the already trampled dirt he showed his apparent annoyance.

'You obviously have nothing I need. I'll be on my way, Ruban' Lyera swished her banner and started off on her way into the dark, dreary, dry land that lied ahead.

Snorting in disdain the stallion rolled his eyes. No matter she has left that is all I need to know Turing to a patch of grass that was still growing he stamped on it. Nothing shall live in this place while she is still lost Laying down a single crystal tear fled down the side of his cheek. She was gone. Maybe to never be found again.

Something suddenly crossed Lyera's mind. Jazul! Maybe Ruban knew where she went! She started galloping back to where she last saw Ruban.

Hearing hooves galloping close Ruban stood. Clacking his teeth at the stranger who had yet to show herself. His nares quivering he took in the scent of a fae. It was Lyera again... What was she coming back here for? And why was she so rushed? Cocking his head side ways he waited for the fae to come to the meadow where he was. Sighing he angled his back leg so it rest on the hoofs tip. Theres no since in trying to rush her. Blue pools glazed over as he continued to wait.

Breathlessly she met up with with the black stag. 'Ruban...Ruban!' She puffed; her chest heaving heavily. 'Have you seen...seen Jazul? I can no longer find her.' Lyera finally caught her breath.

Auds pricked he listened to her heavy breathing finally she said something... Ok yes Ruban is my name he thought to himself. Curiosity shone in his orbs. Nares quivering the scent of sweat filled the area. Flicking his banner he tried to get rid of some of the pestering flies surrounding him. Seen who? Waiting he watched the fae intently. The name she said took him off guard. Shock, surprise, pain, and many other emotions flashed through his mind. "You have seen Jazul!? Where?" The great black stallion did not care if he looked pitiful his eyes begged the fae to tell him.

Lyera sensed the urgency in his voice. He seemed different once she had said the name "Jazul". She knew that if someone told her where her father was she would be that urgent. Maybe she was important to him. 'The last time I saw her, we were having a conversation on the mountain top. She startled me much when I woke up to her'

Ruban let out an anguished cry. "Why have you found her and not me? I have been searching..." Again painful memories flooded his mind. His fathers cruelty, saying it was for his "good", never seeing her again, and searching, searching for 6 years... Shaking his head he tried to banish the memories. None of that mattered. All that mattered was finding her. "Why.... I have searched the mountain and all the islands why has she never shown herself?" Betrayal shone in the stallions eyes. Deep pain that would most likely never heal. Self-consciously he pawed the earth with one of his great pistons.

Lyera knew this obviously bothered him. 'She'll be back. She's not gone for good, Ruban. Jazul has to be somewhere.' At least Lyera hoped she would return. She looked at the mountain peeking on the horizon. Questions flooded her mind. Where could she be? Why did she suddenly have to leave? Is she going to be back? Lyera looked back at Ruban. 'Would there be anything I could help with?'

"If she had feelings for me she would have found me" He snarled. His blue pools glazed over with the thought. If she truly loved him she would have shown herself, right? What if something was keeping her from him... Turning his massive crown away the stallion answered "I am quite sure Lyera, that there is nothing anyone can do." Head drooping from exhaustion the great stallion lowered himself to the ground. Resting his ebony cranium upon the dried dead grass. Half-heartedly he plucked a few blades and chewed slowly, thoughtfully.

For a few minutes, Lyera just stood and watched the black stallion. He seemed slightly depressed and very exhausted. Lyera put her head down, hoping for grass. There was none in this desolate, trampled land. 'If you are completely sure, Ruban.' Lyera started walking slowly down the rocky, dry coastline. She paused after a bit while Ruban was still in view. She wanted to help. There had to be something she could. Lyera stood gazing at him with her bright orbs, most likely visible from Ruban's distant view. 'I can't believe he has been searching this long,' she said to herself. 'There has to be something I can do.' Lyera slowly turned on her back legs and lazily walked out of sight, dissappearing into the land.
